About Xmale Photography
Xmale Photography was founded to offer a safe, relaxed environment where clients can feel completely at ease while creating the style of images they’ve always wanted.
Many people come to me because they’re searching for something genuinely different—an experience that is more personal, more expressive, and often more edgy than the standard approaches available elsewhere.
For some, it’s about ticking off a bucket‑list experience, something empowering to do for themselves or to share with someone special. For others, it’s about creating a deeply personal and intimate gift, building a modelling portfolio, or producing content for adult platforms such as OnlyFans.
For younger adults, the photoshoot can also mark an important milestone, such as the step into adulthood, providing them with a bold and confident statement about who they are as an individual.
Style & Approach
My photographic style is as natural and unobtrusive as possible, unapologetically raw and edgy, whether working in the studio or on location, from a client’s home or hotel suite to outdoor settings. My work is rooted in simplicity, authenticity, and genuine human connection.
While I offer gentle guidance during sessions, I avoid rigid or overly staged posing. Instead, I encourage clients to express themselves freely, allowing me to work quietly in the background. This approach is particularly effective with couples, where real interaction and intimacy can unfold naturally and be captured honestly.

My Experience & Background
Adult‑themed photography has steadily moved into the mainstream in recent years, with male boudoir, often referred to as dudeoir, emerging as an increasingly popular and respected form of personal expression.
I’m not a traditional portrait photographer. My work is driven by a genuine passion for male photography and a deep appreciation of the male form.
Many photographers describe themselves as LGBTQ+ friendly, but far fewer truly specialise in or understand photographing men. As a queer (gay) photographer, I have a genuine appreciation for the male form and a deep understanding of how to capture men with authenticity, confidence and sensitivity.
My perspective as a queer photographer shapes everything I do. I embrace the diversity of how people experience life and how they choose to express themselves. This is reflected not only in the images we create, but in how I approach every shoot.
Creating the right environment is key. I prioritise building a space where clients feel comfortable, respected and free to be themselves without judgement. This is especially meaningful for younger queer adults who may be exploring their identity and self-expression. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive setting where that exploration can happen naturally, and be captured honestly.
Over a 25‑year journey in photography, I’ve undertaken freelance work for a range of publications and organisations, including Gay Times, Attitude, Euroboy, and Scotia Pride (Edinburgh Pride). I also spent time working internationally as a freelance photographer in Denmark, Amsterdam, and France before ultimately settling in Scotland.
I am entirely self‑taught and not constrained by the conventional rules of formal portraiture. I believe the human body is one of the most powerful forms of art, and that, with the right environment, trust, and guidance, that expression can truly come to life.

The Experience
As the subject, it’s essential that you feel relaxed, comfortable, and completely at ease with the person photographing you. After all, a boudoir photoshoot is a highly personal and intimate experience—sometimes shared with a partner.
Boudoir photography is a specialist discipline. Many women choose to work with a photographer who understands both the technical craft and the importance of comfort, trust, and confidence, ensuring a positive and empowering experience from start to finish.
When it comes to male boudoir photography, I’ve found that many men value working with someone who truly understands their perspective. As a male photographer, I’m able to guide posing naturally while creating a relaxed and friendly environment. Clients often tell me how quickly they felt at ease and how much they genuinely enjoyed the experience.
While women have embraced boudoir photography for generations, it remains a relatively new concept for many men. Traditionally more reserved, men are now increasingly exploring this style of photography as a way to express identity, build confidence, and celebrate themselves.
As a male photographer, I bring an authentic understanding of how to photograph men with confidence, sensitivity, and honesty. My approach is centred on helping clients feel at ease, allowing them to relax into the experience and present the very best version of themselves—regardless of age or gender identity.
My aim is to create a friendly, relaxed, comfortable, and welcoming space where you feel completely safe—whether your session takes place in my studio or at a location of your choice.
